WHO WE ARE
ABOUT US
Since 2006, Bethany orphanage has been providing quality and holistic education to orphans and vulnerable children in Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga and other neighbouring districts.Bethany orphanage envisions a world in which every child enjoys the right to a dignified life and freedom from poverty and oppression.
This vision drove Rev Edward Mugwanya to establish the orphanage on personal savings to
- Provide quality education for orphans and vulnerable children in the community
- Provide a home to abandoned children while acquiring quality education Empower young girls and boys who have dropped out of school to acquire skills and start up income generating activities to improve the quality of their lives and those of their families
- Act as a rehabilitation center for girls that are either rescued from forced/early marriages and those that have been affected by teenage pregnancies.
Because the institution depends solely on a few contributions from friends of Bethany and personal savings of its director, it has been constrained financially which has affected the quality of services to the ever increasing demand for them. Bethany orphanage is now seeking for funding to acquire a orphanage truck intended to be utilized to raise funds for the operational costs of the institution.
It is envisioned that the initiative will bring about an increase in institutional enrolment of vulnerable children from impoverished and vulnerable communities of mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga and Buvuma. The initiative will also improve the services provided at the institution.
At the time of establishment, Bethany Orphanage aimed at being a rescue home to orphans and street children. However, it became necessary to provide holistic services at the facility. Bethany nursery and primary school was hence established to ensure that the children rescued/ kept at the home were getting quality education.
